Firefighters Rescue Osprey

Milford Firefighters came to the aid of a wounded Osprey today. Responding to a report of an Osprey in distress, firefighters arrived to find an Osprey hanging up-side-down from a nest. The crew was able to access the Osprey nest with a ground ladder after hiking through a marsh area. Firefighter D. King, assisted by Firefighter J. Coubrough, was able to free the Osprey and carry it down to the ground. Milford Animal Control was also called to the scene to assist. It appeared the Osprey had an injured leg and the Milford Animal Control took custody of the animal to take care of the injury.
